There is also a thriving art community in the many galleries, local music venues, and the concert hall at Fort Lewis College, all of which offering unique opportunities for expanding your creative horizons!
The region has a population of 52,000 and also provides ready access to the San Juan Mountains – arguably the most dramatic scenery in Colorado – and the New Mexican desert with its rich Native American heritage.

The more temperate climate also affords Durango more appeal to those who love the Colorado lifestyle but are not as enamoured with the longer winters of the higher resort areas.
The location, lifestyle and real estate value of River Valley are unsurpassed in southern Colorado. River Valley provides dramatic beauty combined with convenience, recreational amenities and proximity to everything the Durango area has to offer. With its rural mountain charm and character, Durango has a new state-of-the-art new hospital, many fine restaurants, hotels, shopping opportunities, a four-year college, varied cultural activities and endless activities for the outdoor sports enthusiast. Mesa Verde National Park, Durango to Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and other points of interest are just minutes from the ranch.
